Who Is Eligible To Join The Lawsuit

Any police officer working for the City of New York was eligible to join the lawsuit. Any individual who was a police officer for the City of New York and who terminated service after November 27, 1999 was also eligible to join the lawsuits. However, the deadline for joining the lawsuit has passed and no one else can join at this time.

FLSA lawsuits are different than regular class actions in one important way — to be covered by the lawsuit, an employee must take steps to affirmatively join the lawsuit through filing a document with the court known as a "Consent To Join." Employees who do not file Consents To Join are not bound by the lawsuit, and receive none of the damages awarded either through a verdict or through a settlement.
